This is the Currituck Beach Lighthouse on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Still shining today, it was made operational on December 1, 1875, and stands 162 feet tall (the plane of light is at 158 feet). It is constructed of about 1 million bricks, and is 5 feet 8 inches thick at the base. For more information, click HERE to visit the official web site for this lighthouse. |

This is the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. I must give credit to Nikon who developed the system I scanned this negative on. Their software combined with their scanner was able to take an awful negative with significant damage to the emulsion and really clean it up without any effort on my part. Some quality is lost on this and all images posted here since they are in .JPG format to save download time and disk space. |
